Music Educator - Inland Lakes Schools

My position:

I teach 5th grade general music, 6th grade beginning band, 7th&8th grade combined band, the high school band and high school choir.

My education:

I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Music Education, a minor in applied music (baritone), and a minor in computer science.  I continued my education at Central Michigan University where I received my Master of Music Education and Supervision. Currently, I am furthering my education through Central Michigan University, Madonna University and the Michigan Music Conference.

My experience performing:

My instrument has been the baritone since I was in the 6th grade through my senior year of college. I have been a member of the Bad Axe Community Band (baritone / director), the Bill Dembrock Jazz band (trombone), and The United Methodist Church brass ensemble in Bad Axe. When I moved to the Indian River area, I became a member of the Indian River United Methodist Church choir and bell choir.  I have performed and directed the Harbor Springs Community Band locally and in many towns in Germany while the group was on tour.

My experience teaching:

My first job after college was in Bad Axe, MI.  From there, I moved to Inland Lakes Schools and have been teaching here since the fall of 1995.

I am dedicated to:

God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and trying to make decisions that honor them.

My family through love, care and involvement in their lives.

Encouraging people to succeed and giving them the tools to reach their goals.

Making myself and the people I am around better and stronger.

The Inland Lakes Schools and the students who are receiving their education there.

I enjoy:

My family, friends, students, teaching, music, exercising, racquetball and seeing people grow.
