SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE – APRIL 2008

The Lakeshore Beach Association of Topinabee has a scholarship available to a Topinabee resident.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application.  Applications are due back to Mrs. Jarema by Tuesday May 6th.

Delta Upsilon has a scholarship available for male students attending The University of Michigan.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application.  Applications must be postmarked by May 16th; send it to Delta Upsilon, Attn:  Undergraduate Scholarships, P.O. Box 4341, Ann Arbor, MI 48106.

Tau Kappa Epsilon at Western Michigan University has a scholarship for students attending Western that are considering joining a fraternity.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application; applications are due by May 31st and should be sent to Joe Semma, 1315 Fraternity Village Drive Apt. #3, Kalamazoo, MI 49006.

The Nathan Jewell Memorial Scholarship ($1000) is available to former Titans and Titan cheerleaders.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application; applications must be postmarked by May 12th.  Send them to: Indian River Titans, Attention: Nathan Jewell Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 422, Indian River, MI 49749.

The Bruce Bomier Environmental Health Scholarship ($2000) is available to students pursuing a career in environmental studies, science, health and safety, industrial hygiene and / or engineering.  Applications can be found at www.ieainstitute.com or call 1-800-233-9513.  Application must be postmarked by June 1st and should be sent to:  IEA Scholarship Committee, 9201 West Broadway, #600, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445.

Michigan State has a $1000 scholarship for students from Charlevoix, Emmett, or Cheboygan county that will be attending MSU.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application; they must be postmarked no later than May 9th.

The Peter Patrick Memorial Scholarship ($1000) is available to students that show academic potential and contribute to their school and community.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application.  Applications are due back to Mrs. Jarema by May 9th.

The Inland Lakes Education Association has a scholarship available to a student pursuing a degree in education.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application.  Applications should be turned in to Mr. Staley or Mrs. Bunker by May 21st.

The Inland Lakes Boosters have a $500 scholarship for students that have at least a 3.0 GPA.  Students must write an essay as part of the application; the essay cannot contain any references that would clearly identify you.  See Mrs. Jarema for an application; applications should be turned in to Mrs. Benson by May 19th
Students going to NCMC next year – see Mrs. Jarema for a scholarship application.  It is an easy form to fill out!  Applications are due by May 15th.

If you have applied to more than one school, please let the schools that you are not going to know that you will not be attending.  It will help them with their paperwork.

You should be hearing from your school about orientation; it is important for you to go.  You should make an appointment to talk with an advisor about what courses to take.   If you have questions about the financial aid your school offered you, please call their financial aid office and ask them about it.

Remember if your family was Medicaid eligible for at least two years you are eligible for the T.I.P. program which could pay for most of your tuition for your first two years.  If you think you qualify, see Mrs. Jarema.

If you qualified for the early installment payments for the Michigan Promise Scholarship (got all 1s and 2s on your MME) the state should have sent you a letter with a PIN number.  To register to get your scholarship, go to http://treas-secure.state.mi.us/michiganpromise/index.aspx and enter your PIN number.  If you lost your letter, call 1-888-447-2687 to ask for your PIN.
