All students going to college next year should fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) no matter what your family income is. By applying you can see if you qualify for Pell grants and will have access to cheaper student loans. The earliest you can apply is January 1st and the latest you should submit your application is February 28th.
Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply. You and your parents will each need a PIN number and you can request one anytime at www.pin.ed.gov. If you or your parents have not done your taxes by February 28th, you should still apply. Just provide estimates as best you can based on check stubs and year end account information. Then once your taxes are done, the information can be updated.
Go to www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov/ guide for more detailed info on federal student aid.
We will have our Financial Aid Night on January 18th at 5:00 in the H.S. library. There will be a financial aid officer here to answer questions about filling out the FAFSA and other financial aid issues.
