Inland Lakes Schools recently received a gift: a designated cash donation of $20,000. The gift was from a generous benefactor who is part of a group of Columbus Beach families who regularly demonstrate their support for students through various initiatives such as: Inland Lakes Educational Foundation (Scholarships), CISCO (technology programs), and Helping Kids Grow Strong. This gift is designated to help fund the districts Helping Kids Grow Strong program into the 2010/11 school year. The Helping Kids Grow Strong program is a multi faceted approach that helps young people create a sense of the future (career exploration, testing, and career fair), provide empathetic adults (mentoring), and ensures that children have a safe place to be during the hours immediately following the school day. These are research-based approaches to reduce risky behavior among teenagers.Principal Killingbeck said, “We are fortunate to have generous people that want to help the children of this community.”If you would like more information about this or other positive happenings at Inland Lakes Schools, contact us at (231) 238-6868 or via the web at www.inlandlakes.org.
