There are a few changes this year, so be sure to note:
Start Times
Middle School & High School classes START at 8:15AM
Elementary School classes START at 8:00AM (note the time change)
Busses begin loading at the Elementary at 2:55PM, and behind the MS/HS at 3:00PM.
Lunch Prices
Student lunch prices this year will be $2.00 for all buildings. Breakfast will cost $1.00, and milk will be $0.40. (prices will be the same for all buildings)

Inland Lakes High School will be opening the doors to students (parents
welcomed) to receive updated schedules, review locker assignments, receive
parking permits, and updated paperwork on the following dates and times.
9th and 10th Grade Students, Wednesday, August 20th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
11th and 12th Grade Students, Thursday, August 21st from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Inland Lakes High School recently sent a message to freshman. The
message was about make good decisions, in particularly not to smoke.
Each student received a t-shirt that said, “I AM TOO HOT TO BE
SMOKING” during an assembly in which principal Killingbeck used a
short video and brief talk to encourage students to make healthy life
choices.
The assembly was part of a year long program funded by a grant from
the tobacco settlement through Community Foundation for Northeast
Michigan.

Inland Lakes High School students recently took a moment or two for
the planet. The students have been discussing recycling, resource
management, and wise environmental stewardship.

The Lakeshore Beach Association of Topinabee has a scholarship available to a Topinabee resident. See Mrs. Jarema for an application. Applications are due back to Mrs. Jarema by Tuesday May 6th.

Inland Lakes School District presented the first annual Art for the
Hungry at 7 p.m. on Friday April 18th. “The results were
remarkable” said Erin Carnes, ILS Art Teacher. The event was
attended by over 270+ people with a crew of 10 volunteers under the
direction of Mrs. Carnes pulling it all together. The evening raised
funds for The Joy Fellowship food pantry and ILS Fine Arts Program.
Student work at all grade levels was on display with elementary
students receiving a certificate of partcipation and middle and high
Bill Schoolcraft, transportation supervisor, would like to remind everyone that students at the MS/HS are to be picked up and dropped off in front of the buildings at the flag pole enterance. The service drive behind the buildings should be kept clear for busses. This is an important safety issue for our students. It puts them in an unsafe environment when vehicles drive by them as they are being picked up or dropped off.
Indian River has a new weight room and a new national competitor to
go along with it. Justin Flowers, a sophomore at Inland Lakes High
School won the title of State Equip Power Lifting Champion Saturday
March 1st in Flint, Michigan for the weight class of 132 lbs. If you
do not recognize Justin, it may be because of the new hair dew, he
said, “my hair, may have been the difference in me making the weight
class”.
He represents a core group of lifters from ILHS and joins an elite
